Hello, dear friends and supporters of the South African Cystic Fibrosis Association (SACFA)!

I’m Kimberly Keyzer, the chairperson of SACFA, and I’m excited to share with you my experience at a truly heartwarming event. On Thursday, November 7th, I had the privilege of attending “Lifting Hearts, A Celebration of Generosity” at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (CMJAH).

A Celebration of Giving and Hope

This special event was organized by the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at CMJAH to express their gratitude to the many organizations and private companies that have generously contributed to improving the care of their young patients.

A Vision for Holistic Care

During the event, we were inspired by the words of Ms. Gladys Bogoshi, the CEO of CMJAH. She shared her remarkable journey with the department and her vision for enhancing patient care not only from a physical health perspective but also from a sociological and emotional standpoint. It was fascinating to learn that Ms. Bogoshi had previously worked as a nurse in the paediatric department between 1993 and 1996. Perhaps some of our community members who were patients at the then Johannesburg General Hospital during that time might even remember her!

Collaboration for a Brighter Future

Hearing from the different unit heads about the resources and services they’ve been able to provide thanks to the support of these generous organizations and companies was truly eye-opening. It reinforced the importance of collaboration and the power of working together to create a brighter future for our children.

Building Connections

The event provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with representatives from various organizations. I’m hopeful that these connections will lead to even stronger partnerships, further enhancing the hospital environment for the young patients we serve.
